Figma to Elementor: How to Convert a Figma Design Step by Step

Figma to Elementor conversion step by step

Quick answer: To convert Figma to Elementor, read the design and list reusable parts, set the Figma colors and fonts as Elementor globals, export images as WebP and icons as SVG, rebuild each section with Flexbox containers, save headers, footers and cards as templates, adjust every breakpoint, and optimise speed and SEO before launch.

A Figma file looks finished, but it is only a picture of a website. Turning it into an Elementor site that loads fast, looks right on every phone and is easy for the client to edit is where most projects go wrong. This is the workflow I use when a client sends me a Figma design and wants it built in Elementor.

Figma to Elementor conversion step by step

Can you import a Figma design into Elementor automatically?

There are third-party plugins and services that try to convert Figma frames into Elementor layouts. They can save time on a simple landing page, but the result usually needs a lot of cleanup: fixed pixel sizes, deeply nested containers, and styles set on every widget instead of global settings. For a site the client will edit for years, I rebuild the design by hand in Elementor. It is cleaner, faster and easier to maintain.

The 7-step conversion workflow

1. Read the Figma file before you build anything

Check that there is a desktop and a mobile design, list the reusable parts (header, footer, buttons, cards, forms), and note the fonts, colors and spacing the designer used. Ask about anything missing now, such as hover states or the mobile menu, not after the site is built.

2. Set global colors and fonts

In Elementor Site Settings, add the design colors as Global Colors and the text styles as Global Fonts, using the exact names from Figma (Primary, Text, Heading 1 and so on). Every widget then uses these globals, so a color change later takes one click instead of fifty.

3. Export images and icons properly

Export photos as WebP or JPG at about twice their display size, never straight 4,000 pixel exports. Export icons and logos as SVG. Large images are the main reason Elementor sites are slow; I explain why in my WordPress speed optimization case study.

4. Build sections with Flexbox containers

Use Elementor containers with Flexbox or Grid instead of old sections and columns (see the Elementor help center). Match the Figma auto-layout: direction, gap and padding. Keep nesting shallow; two or three levels of containers is usually enough.

5. Save repeated parts as templates

Build the header and footer in the Theme Builder, and save cards, call-to-action blocks and forms as templates or global widgets. If the site has blog posts, services or events, design one Single template and one Archive template instead of styling each page.

6. Check every breakpoint

Switch to tablet and mobile view and adjust font sizes, spacing and the order of columns. Test on a real phone, not only the editor preview. This is where most projects are won or lost.

7. Optimise before launch

  • Turn on Elementor performance features such as optimized asset loading in Settings.
  • Use one font family with only the weights you need.
  • Add a caching plugin and test the page in PageSpeed Insights on mobile.
  • Fill in SEO titles, descriptions and image alt text.

Elementor or a custom theme?

Elementor is the right choice when the client wants to change layouts and add pages without a developer. If the site is large, content-heavy or needs to be extremely fast, a custom theme with ACF can be better. I compare both in ACF vs Elementor, and the general process for other builders is in my Figma to WordPress guide.

How long does a Figma to Elementor build take?

A single landing page usually takes three to five working days. A five to ten page business website takes about two to three weeks, including mobile layouts and revisions. See prices on my services page, or read how to hire an Elementor developer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert Figma to Elementor for free?

Yes, if you rebuild it yourself with the free version of Elementor. Some features such as Theme Builder headers and footers, forms and global widgets need Elementor Pro.

Is there a Figma to Elementor plugin?

There are third-party tools that convert Figma frames to Elementor, but the output usually needs heavy cleanup. For sites you will maintain, building by hand gives cleaner, faster pages.

How much does Figma to Elementor conversion cost?

A landing page often costs from about $150, and a full business website more, depending on the number of pages and features. Ask for a fixed quote with your Figma link.

Will my Elementor site look exactly like the Figma design?

It should match closely on desktop and mobile. Small differences in font rendering between Figma and browsers are normal; spacing, colors and layout should be the same.
